Hazel Tree Cottage is an exciting new-build residential project in Hampshire, transforming a former commercial factory site into a high-performance four-bedroom family home. Combining traditional brickwork with timber-frame construction, the design places a strong emphasis on quality, airtightness and long-term energy efficiency.
The site presents several significant technical challenges. A river runs beneath the existing building footprint, requiring it to be carefully bridged as part of the new development. A high water table adds further complexity to the groundworks, while temporary works are needed to support the installation and operation of a water treatment plant throughout construction.
Following the demolition of the existing factory, the new home will be supported by 16-metre-deep piles designed to overcome the challenging ground conditions. Rosewood is carefully coordinating the structural, civil engineering and water-management requirements while delivering a high-quality residential build. With the ambition of achieving Passive House levels of airtightness, the completed home will offer excellent comfort, efficiency and long-term performance.
